Above ရော Over ရော နှစ်ခုလုံးက “အထက်မှာ” လို့ အဓိပ္ပါယ် ရပါတယ်။ ဒါပေမယ့် သုံးပုံခြင်း မတူပါဘူး။
Example:
The snow came up above/over our knees.
There’s a spider on the ceiling just above/over your head.
အရာဝတ္ထု တစ်ခုက အခြားတစ်ခုရဲ့ အပါ်တည့်တည့်မှာ ရှိမနေဘူးဆိုရင် Above ကို သုံးပါတယ်။
Example:
We’ve got a little house above the lake. (Not “over the lake”)
အရာဝတ္ထု တစ်ခုက အခြားတစ်ခု အပေါ်မှာ ရှိနေတယ်၊ ဖုံအုပ်ထားတယ် ဆိုရင် Over ကိုသုံးပါတယ်။
Example:
There is cloud over Yangon.
အရာဝတ္ထု တစ်ခုက အခြားတစ်ခု အပေါ်မှာ ဖြတ်ကျော်သွားတယ်၊ ဖြတ်ကျော်နေတယ် ဆိုရင်လဲ Over ကိုသုံးပါတယ်။ (Across ကိုလဲ သုံးလို့ရပါတယ်)။
Example:
Electricity cables stretch over/across the fields.
The plane was flying over/across the Indian Ocean.
ပိုများတယ် (More than) ဆိုတဲ့ အဓိပ္ပါယ် နဲ့လဲ Over ကို သုံးပါတယ်။
Example:
How old are you? I am over thirty.
He’s over two meters tall.
There were over fifty people at the party.
ဒေါင်လိုက် စကေး (vertical scale) ကိုရည်ညွှန်းပြီးပြောတဲ့ အခါကျရင်တော့ Above ကို သုံးပါတယ်။
Example:
Above zero degree Celsius.
Above sea-level.
Above average.
